A Confession: of sorts anyways.............. during Gulf I i had the misfortune of riding shotgun with a civilian HGV 1 Saudi driver ............ he headed into the desert in the dark despite my protesting that we should wait till daylight..................... ultimately we ended up too far north of Saudi in the daylight and in the early morning light when we finally stopped i was confronted by a lone Iraqi soldier in the distance. He had me in his sights as far as i could see so without thought i pulled the trigger of my weapon *A 7.62 mm SLR.............Hey i was a drummer / bandie so we only had minimal familiarization with the then new SA80 mk1* anyway i took that Saudi soldier down! ...................... on inspection the Soldier was nothing more than a young teenager at best! For many years after i left the military i was troubled by the fact that i had basically killed a child, it took a friend (Flo) to make me see sense by the fact that HE had ME in HIS sights! and were it not for my actions i would not be here. My parents are not on FB so will not see this but my daughters, sons, sister, nieces and nephews etc. are.................. I Beg your understanding and forgiveness!
