A Conversation with Paul Krugman from my friend, Sal Dobbs. Liked most of what Krugman said, however, what I heard were ideas too much within the framework of our capitalist system - even though he said that he thought younger people would try to reform the system. And there is always a bit of nostalgia about less inequality in the past, which bugs me as a university graduate who was paid according to gender all my working years - and there were other groups, not-white-male who got shorted. / Krugman talks about progressive taxes. In a Meritocracy (I Dream) this would not be necessary because there would not be those with unmerited, obscene wealth. What we need is a fair and just tax / economic system (I Dream). Krugman also said we needed single-payer health-care. / He was kind enough to say that that because the media misinformed us and that we were too busy trying to survive, we dont pay attention to how we vote (or dont vote). I am paraphrasing, of course, but I dont think I distorted anything.
