A DAY AT MY DESIGN WORLD | < live loads versus dead loads > This read has just again spark off my fear for many suspicious projects I have seen when I travel overseas. Lets take for example . Let us take a walk down Legian street in bali island indonesia where I travel every once a month for meetings. From an adaptation of a old building structure , with multiple extension, with narrow indoor corridors and lanes, with few escape openings and rescue worker access points, with many more floors added higher & higher up to the sky... Etc etc etc. Have you ever wonder if the structure and emergency escape are planned accordingly: - is there enough fire escape door and properly escape sign route. - is there enough access opening for rescue workers entry. - is there strict limits to the crowd entry that add more weights to the structure it can hold. - is the workmanship on the structural inspected to be sure it can takes the building weight and the constant vibrations from the gigantic speakers and crowd foot stomping. For the moment, I think I had better be safe when I go party next round!!!
