A DREAM A king dreams a dream and cannot remember it, calls his wise men to come tell him the dream and to interpret it. They tell him it cannot be done, has never been done, tell us the dream first, then we will interpret it. He tells them no, tell me the dream and the interpretation or die. At last they find Daniel, a Jew in exile in Babylon. He tells the king the dream and interprets it, telling him it is a dream connected to the future and concerning things to come. He then tells him the dream, a statue with a head of gold, a body of silver, legs of brass and feet of iron and clay. He then explains it. The head of gold is the king himself (Nebuchadnezzar) presently in power, the silver a lesser kingdom (Medes and Persians) the brass a lesser kingdom (the Greeks Alexander the Great) the iron a cruel and destructive kingdom (Romans) divided as Europe is today by many nationalities (clay) that do not mix with the iron. Then a kingdom that crushes this kingdom, a rock hewn from a mountain that crushes the feet of the statue and scatters it to dust and then grows to fill the earth. ‘And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms and it shall stand forever.’ He goes onto say that ‘the great God has made known unto the king what shall come to pass hereafter, and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.’ The king then falls on his face and worships Daniel in recognition of this ‘great God’ and the power of his servant. Now I will ask you, this kingdom that lasts forever, what kingdom is that if not the one to bring all kingdoms to their knees? Interesting stuff, thanks, never going to find it anywhere but where I found it, written and recorded to history before it all happened, about 2,500 years before Google.
