A Day of Rest, Reflection, and Gratitude The Rest: Mom had a day off from dialysis and continues to respond to instructions. Her PEEP is down to 5, where shes strong enough to initiate her own breath. The vent provides volume support since that damn fluid continues to weigh on her lungs. MRI results tomorrow. Prayers for removing that fluid!!!!! Pretty please. A Brief Reflection: I dont like to look backwards too often but occasionally its nice to glance up at the rearview mirror to see the ground weve covered. Its been a hell of a ride. We found out more about the very beginning. A neighbor found mom while walking his dog and called 911. The medics arrived on scene within 90 seconds and were able to restart her on the second or third shock. The ensuing night cannot be erased from our memories fast enough but it was in this time period that Mom cemented her determination. She proved both Doctor and doubters wrong, as she pushed through daybreak to gradually reveal her tenacity and resolve. Her ongoing fight is nothing short of an act of God, whom we are forever thankful to. Ill stop right there as its undermining to dwell on these times; but a brief reflection fosters encouragement and wards off complacency for the road ahead. Gratitude: This one is for you. You. Thank you. The mere fact that youre taking time out of your day and have continued reading up until this point implies youre in moms corner. (Even if I lost you in the first paragraph you can be on our team, were not overly selective). Your prayers, thoughts, energy, good vibes, and charitable contributions have fueled this healing. Thank you. Our family is in awe of the outpouring. We have found supports from every corner of life: family, Y2Y, Virginia Tech, Ohio U, Westerville Christian Church, Arlington, Charlotte, Westerville friends, workplaces, and several places I cannot begin to identify because I know only a portion of the people that my mother has touched. Keep up the prayers, thoughts, energy, and good vibes. The contributions are being stored away safely until this picture unfolds a little more. You most likely purchased a large quantity of propofol. Ill mail everyone a small sample for their enjoyment. THANK YOU
