A Devotion for Lent Day 6 As Christ hung dying on the cross, he spoke to his mother, indicating to her that John, the youngest disciple, would fulfill the duties of a son toward her. He then verbally gave his mother into Johns keeping. Family responsibilities were important to Jesus. During lent when we give up food, fun, and other items that we think we hold too dear, we are not to forsake our family members and their needs. During this week, when our devotion time is centering on family, pray each day for family, even distant relatives.
