A Difficult Client: I met Bernadine* in Rosebank late one afternoon. I summed her up as rather high maintenance and felt that her expectations and outlook on dating weren’t realistic. I tried communicating this to her… Against my better judgment I did sign Bernadine on to the MatchVIP database, regretting it instantaneously. It wasn’t that she was rude (we don’t accept this type of behavior anyway), but just that she was spoilt and had always gotten what she wanted, the way she wanted it. The real problem was that she detested the dating process, and was lashing out on her newly appointed Matchmaker. Following her third introduction I received another: “What were you thinking!?!” email. I called her to discuss in length why Craig* was a really great match for her. She couldn’t pinpoint what she didn’t like about him, but stated that he wasn’t her type at all. My question to her: “So what is your type? Emotionally unstable, bad boy types who treat you with disrespect?”. There was an awkward silence. Finally I struck a nerve! She agreed to meet with Craig again. 2 years later, they’re engaged to be married. Bernadine has since thanked me many times for my advice and patience. I’m happy for Bernadine also wish Craig all the best in keeping her content :) Perhaps you are overlooking someone who is perfect for you in every way, just because they don’t feel familiar to you.
