A Film With Me In It. 2008. Dylan Moran, Mark Doherty. If you loved, like I did, the dark comedy in Fargo, you will REALLY love this unexpected beauty. I actually never heard of it. But now I will never forget it. It is truly hilarious. Two unemployed actors are way down on their luck. They live in a flat that is truly falling apart. The windows wont stay open, shelves are about to fall off the wall, the kitchen light flickers. Plus, they have a landlord who really wants his back-rent, and one of the actors has a girlfriend living with them who is about to leave as she just cant deal with the living conditions anymore. Oh, and they have a brother in a wheelchair living with them as well. Stressful. One day, everything goes wrong. First, their beautiful dog, who is sleeping in his bed, is killed as a shelf falls off the wall, killing him in his sleep. Then, while watching TV, the wheel chaired brothers life ends as the chandelier above him comes crashing down. Later, the landlord shows up to make a few repairs and is electrocuted. Finally, the girlfriend comes home from work, sees the dead bodies lying on the floor, and passes out, only to be impaled on a clarinet that was lying on the floor. Sad, but actually very very funny. So, the two roommates have to decide what to do. If they call the Police, they fear they wont be believed...who has three accidents within 4 or 5 minutes? The cops will surely arrest them as murderers. And so the story develops. This little gem is simply precious. The direction is flawless, the screenplay is just too funny, and this movie is a real diamond in the rough that you just have to see if you like this sort of thing. I absolutely loved it. It took Fargo to the next level, again and again.
