A Ghost story Once there was a News in Lakadeepa paper that ASP Vass Gunewardena who went to investigate the Kahawatta chain murders faced a peculiar experience. There was a haunted Police quarters at Kahawatta so it has been abandoned. ASP Vass Gunewardena didnt believe in Ghosts so he took measures to restore it and went there and started investigations with his police team. But he couldnt live there due to the troubles received by Ghosts. So he had to abandon it again. I met Mr.Vass Gunewardena when I went to watch the Murder trial against him at Colombo High Court 1. I asked him whether this story is true. He told me that it is true. He told me that he and his police team faced so many Ghost incidents in that house. Vass told me that when ever he went to bed switching off the light the light switches on again. The Ghost has pulled him out of his bed in several occasions. The showers of bath room turns on automatically. There were sounds of some body walking around the house and inside the house at night but no body was there when inquired. Two of his team members who was with him(who has faced the same murder charges and in trial) approved his statement that they two faced such incidents. Mr.Vass told me that two OICs have been murdered while living in that quarters. I dont think that there is any need for them to make up a story. The Mind-Body problem is a vital problem in philosophy. Monist atheist Materialists are in the view that mind emerges out of complicated interconnected function of the brain cells. Most scientists hold this view. But there are Duelist Vitalists who believe that living organisms are fundamentally different from non-living entities because they contain some non-physical force which provides it life and this force survives beyond death. Buddhism supports this view and teaches Rebirth. I think these kinds of experiences by people are good evidence to support Vitalist dualism. Materialists will argue that these are mere hallucinations but I dont think so. Any comments Ritigala Jayasena?
