A God answered question! Again watching Oprah Winfrey in another interview, this time with R&B performer, Usher, I questioned whether what I write about doing the “right” thing is really the best strategy all the time. Usher mentioned to Ms. Winfrey that he married his former wife because he felt that it was the “right” thing to do giving that she was pregnant with their first son at the time. I’ve since been thinking about this a lot! The marriage failed, despite him doing “right” thing. ‘Am I giving bad advice by saying, “do the right thing in every moment, example and experience”?’ is the question that has been rolling around in my head! God, being God, answered me today when I read a beautiful story of a police officer who helped a lady who was caught stealing food for her kids from a food store, by purchasing $100 worth of groceries for her! This led to more people donating money to buy more stuff, along with a local business owner giving her a job on the spot after an interview. They ended the article with this sentence though, “And to think it all started with one veteran police officer trusting her “instinct” instead of going “by the book”.” God, I get it, it’s about doing the “intuitively right” thing! Going back to Usher, he admitted that a big lesson he learned from his failed marriage was to trust his instincts, as he had actually cancelled the initial wedding, but 5 days after the planned wedding, he still went ahead with the marriage. Lesson in all of this again, I believe, is to do the “intuitively right” thing in every moment example and experience, in other words, what is God telling you to do based on your intuition/gut/feelings when you go to Him in those 1000 daily decisions? WE GO WITH GOD!
