A Great Awakening is coming in this country: recognition by the younger generation that it has been thoroughly swindled by prior generations. That it has not happened yet can be attributed to deficiencies within our educational system; a significant portion of our youth is incapable of grasping the plain truth or puncturing political propaganda. Their inheritance will be a nominal, and growing, debt of almost $17 trillion; unfunded, and growing, medical and pension liabilities of almost $125 trillion (which render Social Security and Medicare technically insolvent); commitments to defend Japan, South Korea, most of Europe, and various Middle Eastern “authoritarian” regimes; a sclerotic economy that will not generate the jobs, wages, or growth that earlier generations took for granted, and now, final insult to injury―the young, healthy, and employed will bear part of the burden for those who are older and less healthy. Under ObamaCare, they will pay either higher insurance premiums than they do now or fines for being uninsured, and many who work in entry level positions will have their hours cut so that they are not considered full-time, requiring employers to provide insurance or pay fines. Take with a grain of salt all the mushy stuff that fills Facebook about how much we love our kids. We love them so much we’re drowning them in debt and unaffordable commitments to maintain our benefits.
