A Great Show on Defense By Your Miami Dolphins in Game 3 of the Pre-Season Kevin Coyle, I apologize. I apologize for having repeatedly expressed doubts about your defense and for wishing you wouldve had been fired last year along with Mike Sherman in a more private setting. I am very happy to say you have proven me wrong, and few apologies have been as enjoyable as this one. I love how the Miami Dolphins 2014 defense is doing in pre-season and how the 1st team racked up some sacks and did a good job at stuffing the run, up to the Cowboys last drive before halftime. Bill Lazor must be a genius because he thinks like me. Ive been saying since last year, that the moment opposing defenses smelled a lack of connection, timing, chemistry or whatever, between Tannehill and Wallace, combined with a Tannehill-to-Wallce-on-the deep-down-the-sidelines-go-route-or-bust mentality, they would send everyone after Tannehill and that the best solution was to do something else. Thats EXACTLY what Lazor seems to have done. Wallace caught more passes this evening against Dallas, than I remember and yet the Boys defense did not dare do more than to send occasional extra pressure against RT because of the varied and versatile attack. Wallace did not once run down the sidelines on a fast go route, but instead ran quite a few go fakes and stop type of routes. I like it when people are smart and change what theyre doing in order to achieve different results. The monster blocks by 1st round pick JaWuan James in running plays were very exciting to see, and how well he seemed to handle his rotation over to left tackle was also very uplifting. Dallas performed reasonably well in run blocking and the right side of the OL opened wide running lanes on multiple occasions. A few days ago I selected Damian Williams as my player flying under the radar in pre-season... well I had the name right, except I had the wrong Damian. Damian Williams as in the wide receiver, who was the one I picked, performed very well, but it was Damian Williams the running back that stood out more. Any Fin fan who is not excited about the upcoming season who should have their blood pressure checked, because this is not you Jeff Ireland Dolphins anymore.
