A Gunman went on a shooting spree in downtown Austin Friday night. The 49-year-old man has been identified as Larry Steve McQuilliams of Austin (pictured above). Police say he fired more than 100 rounds at multiple downtown buildings, including a federal courthouse, the Mexican consulate and Austin Police Department headquarters. According to the Chief of Police, Art Acevedo, the motive seemed to be a response to Obama’s amnesty decision last week. He told reporters Friday that, based on his experience and the suspect’s targets, “the national debate about immigration right now…certainly comes to mind.” The chief described the suspect’s actions as “violent anti-everything behavior, anti-government behavior if you will. He said he was willing to speculate that the current “heated” political discourse on immigration issues “might have fed into some of this.” Police said McQuilliams was known to have a criminal history, but didn’t release details.
