A History of Football on The Colville Reservation is a page dedicated to the story of football in our lives and communities. This story is not limited to recent history, and my hope is that this page can show a more complete picture of the role football has played for us throughout the years. So if you have any old pictures or memories from pee wee, junior high, high school or semi-pro football on our Rez (or from any surrounding communities where our tribal members may have played) please feel free to share them here. If you or someone you know has gone on to play college ball, pictures and stories from those days are welcome too. I’m compiling a list of potential interviewees from our area that may be able to tell stories about their experiences, as well as what the game meant to them. I’d also like to hear how the game may have shaped their characters through hard work leading to big rewards and how they may have dealt with the disappointments competitive sports can sometimes bring. And don’t be shy – I’ve interviewed people involved in sports before who thought they had “nothing to say.” That simply isn’t true. Everyone’s got a great story. If you’re from our reservation and played, coached, watched your family play, announced player numbers after tackles, worked the clock, taped up players or even manned the stick crew, part of that history is your own personal story. I’d like to hear it.
