Weaned on rejection and raised on neglect, she rations her affection with her firstborn, believing it better for the girl to have a healthy respect for her than be in a position to jab barbs at an already damaged self-esteem. Later in life, she realizes she may have created a respectful, obedient daughter, but she’s also made her meek and submissive. Her son, on the other hand, has inherited his father’s role as lord and master of the family. Unfortunately, he also inherited his quick temper.
