A LESSON ON THE IMPORTANCE OF VOTING. Less than 20% of all Kent students have so far cast their vote in this years sabbatical officer elections - and Im pretty sure more than 20% of all students have an opinion on how Kent Union and its various outlets are run. This is not another campaign post, but a reminder as to how important your single vote is. Without this years sabbatical team, we would not have had extended library hours during the exam period, we would not have had extended shuttle bus hours, we would not have had a Liberation in Sports Day, no course reps, no Support our Staff campaign, no Zones meetings, we would not have had cheaper accomodation in Eliot and Rutherford, we wouldnt have had the library extension, we wouldnt have had a new PC room in Parkwood, we wouldnt have had a Low Price Promise in Essentials, we wouldnt have had the soon-to-be-launched Mature Student Society, no accessible doors in Woodys or the S.A.C, no new student media centre.... THE LIST REALLY DOES GO ON. All of this change was enacted by THE VOICE OF STUDENTS. And, if we do not bother to vote our voice will not be heard by our elected officials in the first place. Our sabbatical team are guided by what we say particularly when we vote. And if we dont vote we are telling them that we dont care what they do and that is a dangerous thing to say. So go and cast your vote - you have 31 hours to do it. Him Wai, Tom Currie, Andre Lewis, Clarissa Place, Jack Bedford, Zach Toogood, Lela George Youvegotmeonmyknees, Léo Wilkinson, Jake Laws
