A LIFE OF PRAYER September 16th, 2013 M. PinckneyShare this Devo on Facebook and Twitter: Stop, Drop, and Pray! powertochange/blogposts/2013/09/16/a-life-of-prayer/ #LifeDevo“…My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will…” (Read the whole passage here: Matthew 26:36-46) When I look back over my life, I can see how God’s love has guided me. He never left me alone. In the challenging times He was always there. I recall a time that I struggled doing what I knew was right. A time in which temptations were great and my ability to resist was not so great. The Holy Spirit led me to the story of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus was troubled in His soul. He was in deep agony about the decision to go to the cross. He was facing the temptation to give up and run the other way, rather than fulfilling the call on His life to die for our sins. What did He do? Because He was a man devoted to prayer, He prayed. He took His cares and concerns to the Lord three times in passionate prayer. It was then that He received the strength He needed to go forward. I encourage you today to do the same when you are faced with the desire to walk away from what you know is right. A life that is devoted to prayer will help us respond appropriately to every challenge you face. How has your prayer life, helped you stay on course? What are some benefits of a life devoted to prayer? Father, thank you for the inner strength you provide as we devote ourselves to a life of prayer. May we continue to call on you in our times of weakness and allow your strength to be perfected in us. It is only through our relationship with You that we are able to face the unknown and the uncertainties of our lives. In Jesus name, Amen. ACTION STEP When you are faced with a challenge or temptation today, stop and pray against it
