A LOVE AS DEEP AS A BITE I force my teeth together- I - TopicsExpress

A LOVE AS DEEP AS A BITE I force my teeth together- I won’t let go Until your words start jingling Like the silverware in my kitchen drawer; Until your skin is covered with A network of china cracks; Until you tilt sideways, The way the dying rat behind the fridge does, To brood I will let you bleed for a few moments, While I look for the tourniquet, or a pair of tongs Which is in the shape of my lips. I will look for it with my eyes closed And remember you saying Let go a handful of yesterdays and tomorrows Like everything you look forward to already happened When our love was like a freshly baked muffin It sweated butter from its crown When we crossed fingers, You always slightly adjusted them So your knuckles resonated with my heartbeat I force my teeth together, I won’t let go, Until flesh turns into coal Coal turns into a moon crater I’ll let the second wound bleed itself done And watch you turn blue And hear you explain how time Is like the dead bugs Floating in the sink Ever feel that drowning element? I force my teeth together, I won’t let go, Until you say, It hurts, baby; oh baby, it hurts, Until your breath shatters under mine Until the wound bleeds to scar, A crescent on your skin- A virgin moon torn and mended Until the only moment I remember is When you have ideas about us crossing fingers
