A LOVE FOR GOD; IS A VISION FOR THE WORLD! The word ‘Love’ on a contemporary understanding is a strong feeling of affection. A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness. Vision on the other hand is (a) as the faculty of sight, eyesight; (b) something that is or has been seen; (c) unusual competence in discernment or perception; (d) intelligent foresight; (e) the manner in which one sees or conceives of something; (f) a mental image produced by the imagination; (g) the mystical experience of seeing as if with the eyes the supernatural or a supernatural being; and (i) a person or thing of extraordinary beauty. Prophetic vision is the act or power of anticipating that which will or may come to be. Therefore, the vision for the world is the anticipation of the love of God which may come to be by everyone created by God! “Go into all the world and preach and teach or make disciples of all nations”. Mark 16:15-20 & Mathew 28: 18-20. Love has nothing to do with what we as individuals are expecting to get but only with what we are expecting to give…..that, which is everything. What is love but acceptance of others, whatever they are. The purpose of human life, no matter who is controlling it, is to love whoever is around to be loved. Love can change a person the way a parent can change a baby---awkwardly and often with a great deal of mess. Love look not in the eyes, but with the mind. But Heavenly love transcends beyond loving ones neighbors. You cannot genuinely love your neighbors when you do not love God. Yes!, true love is from God! The primary way we can demonstrate our love for God is by keeping His commandments. “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and I will manifest Myself to him.” John 14:21. Love is Heavenly and Holy. It is sacrificial and was first demonstrated by God Himself when He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus to die for our sins. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. The love for God must go beyond verbal expression; it must be demonstrated in obedience to His commandments. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, withal your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment and the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40. There are two versions of love here: (i) to love God and (ii) to love our neighbors. Loving God is with all the heart, with all the soul and all the mind. There is no human relationship that is to have a higher priority that our own personal relationship with God! The Great Commandment’s love itself must find expression in the Great Commission which is to be expressed not only in words but in our actions directed toward the people for who Christ died. Jesus Christ says we should love our neighbors as ourselves and the best way to love our lost neighbors is to build a relationship that allows us to share with them the “Good News” of the Gospel. This will make us “fishers of men.” The best way to love our Christian neighbors is to help them become mature disciples of Jesus. At the judgement seat of Christ, this will ensure our Lord’s recommendation, “Well done thou good and faithful servant.” We must be committed to this task as commanded by Jesus. The Great Commitment to love was first demonstrated and motivated and Jesus Christ by swinging into action as He died on the Cross to safe us all (people of the world). John 3:16. Love demands a commitment to change the “Great Omission” into the “Great Commission” in our lives. If God’s love for us had been expressed in word only, we would still be lost in our sins. God intends that our love for Him motivates us into action as well. Jesus asked Peter three times, “Do you love Me?” Each time, Peter’s affirmation of love was followed by a command from the Lord Jesus: “Feed My Sheep.” True word it is that if our love for God is only verbal, our lost neighbors may well die in their sins, and brothers and sisters in Christ may remain immature in the Faith. This is God’s vision of the Great Commission! Now! What is the present state of your life as it relates to God’s commandment of the Great Commission? Are you neglecting a commitment to become personally involved in the fulfillment of the Great Commission? Who are you committed to winning for God or discipling to become matured in Christ? If you examine yourself and there is no such commitment to fulfilling this Great Commission then you got to start now. You got to show this love and safe the many out there who are lost!! God bless you as you decide to be committed to the Great Commission. Win a soul today; shalom!!!
