A LOVE LETTER TO CHI CHI LaRue: Family, friends and fans of Chi Chi LaRue we are celebrating that Larry has triumphed over another hurdle in his life. Surgery complete, now home, and recovery and healing next. But as he heals, I wish to take a moment to tell you his strength to life for himself is the same strength he gives to others. He is intimately familiar with the 12 steps. Instead of being secretive he shares with friends and strangers alike the struggles he faces to help them face their issues and to heal. He is intimately familiar with health issues including weight and took the most radical steps to solve it. Instead of vanity of being secretive he shares with friends and strangers alike to help them face their issues and to heal. That is how I met Chi Chi LaRue just one year ago. His public comments helped me gather the courage to reach out to him, meet with him, talk about his story and his success. He was an inspiration. He put me on a path to face my issues and to heal. So today, as Larry sits in bed in his Penthouse Suite In The Sky in West Hollywood (more than 3500 miles from me) I celebrate my birthday. And because I learned from Larry to not be secretive and share to help face challenging issues and to heal... I am my own path to heal. 200 pounds lost... many challenges ahead. But when can you say a Drag Queen helped save your life? Well, she is lying in bed today in West Hollywood in pain. But I know without doubt... that pain is to heal. And to heal in every possible way in physical and mentally. And we can all learn that lesson from Chi Chi LaRue. What could possibly be more important in life? For my friend, thank you.
