A Lazy November Sunday on the Alberni Canal - with some special aquatic guest stars. [Please turn on HD] Although the Alberni Valley lies near the centre of Vancouver Island, it is also on the Pacific Ocean. Port Alberni is found at the head of a deep ocean fjord which cuts in from the west and terminates with the Alberni Canal, where the Somass River and salt water mix together. This water is home to one of the worlds most famous salmon runs and attracts fisherman of all shapes and sizes, including some enormous sea lions. We happened across a group of sea lions on a warm sunny November afternoon as they cruised the Alberni Canal in search of lunch.
