A Letter By An Army Cadet to his Parents This is a real letter written by an Army cadet to his parents. This letter gives a glimpse of a cadet’s life and how from a lazy, mamma’s boy these young boys transform into disciplined officers. No melodrama, no exaggeration. Just real letter! Dear Baba and Mamma, At last after 2 days of hectic schedule I could finally cut out some sleep time of mine to write. As expected this is not at all a soft option. I have actually stolen this half hour time for myself. You can call it advantage of becoming a corporal. I had to go for orders for the coy but sent replacement at the end. So finally the scene was I put a big lock on my front door and took a back door entry from my bathroom. In fact, I narrated this story just to let you know that I have come into the mental grid of academy and it will take a little more time to get into the physical standards of the Academy. Right now all my body parts are cursing me. But I have surprised myself in so many things. Slowly I am working towards building up my stamina. Training is going on fine. The physical rigour is no problem but this feeling that we are not allowed to move out of the Academy is sometimes painful. As for mental workout, frankly you don’t get time to think, you don’t have time for anything. Although, I subscribed for Times of India but I don’t read. Baba, a good news was I might have got a short 2 days break for Diwali but this leave was subjective to clearing my drill test and PT test. So this really motivated me to pass my test in first attempt. There are 5 attempts for these tests. But if you pass all physical tests in first go then you can literally rule because second trimesters don’t touch you. This act is an incentive given to that chap for his hard work and if you don’t then you are under the eyes of seniors and also officers. But sadly, I couldn’t pass the test in first attempt and now I am missing you guys like hell. I so wanted this leave. Rest all is fine. And about my food I am hogging like anything. Health is fine except couple of pains. Don’t worry I will sail through. It is been now over a month and I am here just another 11 months before you see me with pips on my shoulders. Nothing more to add now, I’ll end here. Yours only son D P.S Dear Mom, Take care of your health mom. See, mom, I won’t get leave to come and see whenever you fall sick so you better don’t get ill and keep yourself fit fat. Sorry I couldn’t come on Diwali. I miss you a lot. source:writergitanjali
