A Letter Never Received Dear Julius, Feels kinda weird starting a letter with your government name when I should be calling you my son. Of course there is no need to go back because unfortunately we cant erase the past. Its hard to believe that Im writing a 29 year old man now. The last time we saw each other you was only 6 months old, its going on 30 years since I held you in my arms and I regret every minute of it because Ive missed so much. I know my words might not have any value but I just hope this letter is worth enough to read and not choose to return to sender. First, I want to thank you for being the man that I couldnt be. As much as I wanted to stand up to responsibility and be a man of integrity I just couldnt seem to find the right path, but I see that you have. I see that you are a man after Gods own heart, I see you are a faithful husband, and a soon to be father. You are a man with drive and ambition who is not afraid to accept the fact that you sometimes make mistakes. You dont accept failure and when you fall you dont look for something or someone to blame. The values, morals, and principles that you practice in life will take you straight to success and even though I was never in your life I did teach you the man NOT to become by not being in your life. I heard MrsDee Williams is 5 months pregnant, well congratulations. I know with the both of you being the parents of my Suppose 2 Be grandchild, he or she will be extremely blessed. If you are anything like your old man when I found out that you was conceived I was terrified. Please know you are already a great father because you are not running from the role of being a man. Let me close by telling you the two words that you have been waiting for 3 decades to hear from me, Im Sorry! Im sorry for abandoning you, Im sorry for not raising you, Im sorry you couldnt talk to me when times got hard, Im sorry I couldnt teach you how to be a leader, Im sorry I caused hurt, Im sorry I caused confusion, Im sorry I caused emptiness, Im sorry I missed games, Im sorry I missed birthdays, Im sorry you had to turn to other men for guidance, Im sorry I wasnt your hero, Im sorry I missed graduations, Im sorry I missed holidays, Im sorry I missed your wedding, Im sorry Ill probably wont get to meet my grandchild, Im sorry I neglected you, Im sorry I never knew you, and last but not least Im sorry you had to write this letter because I wasnt man enough to do it myself.
