A Life Transformed--Day One ---------------------------------- Goal: To recognize how my response to my problems reveals my view of God. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Read over the funnel chart explanation. 2. Funnel a present situation that you are struggling with using the blank funnel provided. Using the Funnel Chart -------------------------- Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts. Complete the left side of the funnel chart in regard to the feelings and actions in your life. Begin by thinking of a situation that really bothered you this past week or month. 1. Living Being: Actions and Feelings: -------------------------------------------- anxious/stressed/depressed/angry reactions/irritable/workaholism/disorganized/withdrawn. 2. Thinking Being: Thoughts: --------------------------------- I dont have enough time. If i dont do it, it wont get done right. No one appreciates me. I cant do what God wants. 3. Believing Being: Beliefs about self: -------------------------------------------- Im a failure/alone/incompetent/unacceptable/unworthy of love. 4. Worshipping Being: Beliefs about God: ------------------------------------------------ God is distant/angry/harsh/demanding/mean/uninvolved. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1). On the top level of the funnel (Living Being), write down how you felt and behaved in that situation. 2). On the thinking level (Thinking Being), write your thoughts at that time. 3). On the believing level (Believing Being), write what you were believing about yourself. Try using the phrase, I am __________________. 4). On the worshipping level (Worshipping Being), write what your beliefs about yourself reveal about what you are believing about God. Try using the phrase, God is ___________________. Spend time with God expressing to Him your thoughts and feelings about Him. (Remember: Be as honest, forthright, and graphic as you can be with Him....He wants honesty, and He already knows anyway). 5) Now, go back up the right side of the funnel chart. At the worshipping level, contrast you negative beliefs about God to what is true about Him. Give Scripture references. Stop and reject the lies you have been believing about God, and thank Him for Who He really is. (You may not feel this yet, but it is true nevertheless).
