A Life Well Lived Henrietta Siksek Farradj 16 January 1918- 14 March 2014 A great lady and a legend was called to Heaven today. Henrietta Siksek Farradj died on Friday 14th March 2014 in Jerusalem, a city which embraced her for 96 years. She studied in the Friends School in Ramallah and attained her teacher training diploma from the Lebanese Teacher Training College in Beirut. Both these institutions Henrietta used to say were responsible for her interest in wild flowers, something which we still see pasted and printed into cards, letter pads and calendars sold to the benefit of the Four Homes of Mercy. In her youth days Henrietta worked as a teacher in a number of schools in Jerusalem, Beirut, Amman and Tripoli. She was also employed in a number of publishing houses in the USA including Row Peterson, Rand McNally, McGraw Hill and others. An author of a number of publications including The Gallant Five, Libyan Folk tales, Twelve Palestinian Stories, Short tales and others as well as a broadcaster for 100s of children and youth programs including the famous show programs Suad and this is Jerusalem. The Four Homes of Mercy, and since its founding by her mother Katheeine Siksek was everything in her life and when her mother rested in peace she took over , and until this day , as Executive Honorary Secretary. She was honored for excellence in the fields of voluntary services and social work by a number of esteemed Palestinian organizations including the Arab Studies Society, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Union of Palestinian Women, Tamer Institute and others. The Four Homes of Mercy was engraved in her heart and mind. In spite of her old age and until only two years back when her health weakened, not a day passed without her caring for the Four Homes of Mercy and comforting its residents. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends and many supporters have always been with her. Until her soul departed her body, Henrietta was known for her ease in frequent conversations with people, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. She maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. A tireless Christian example! she posses a true servants heart caring faithfully for family, friends and above all the staff and residents of the Four Homes of Mercy. She was caring and beautiful inside out. She was the woman who put everyone else before herself , she humbled herself before God and others and understood that Christianity did not end at home. Henrietta, you have taught us how to live life fully, passionately, bravely and courageously just as you have lived yours. You have showed us what true unconditional love is. We know that you will be watching over us every day and we promise to continue in your footsteps. Our wonderful mother, our best friend and our beautiful angel, you are now in the arms of our blessed Lord. Jesus is taking care of you in the warmth of His love. You are already missed and will be missed more and more as time goes by.
