A Little Bit Of excitement Ashmore Tavern Tonight!! The night - TopicsExpress

A Little Bit Of excitement Ashmore Tavern Tonight!! The night was going very well indeed, I was naturally in top form delivering a first class trivia performance. I noticed in the corner of my eye a strange intoxicated woman walking thru the lovely bistro area at the tavern - she did yell one answer in her drunken slur - naturally it was very incorrect! She approached the bar purchase another drink - however the extremely well trained staff DID refuse her service and offered her some water and a taxi home. For some time she disappeared and the night continued as normal. During the 2nd break I popped outside for some air only to notice the said person in contention sitting in the gutter of the tavern, rummaging thru her handbag and throwing several mobile phones round the car-park. Upon my entry back into the tavern I notified the very large security officer (lets call him Steroid Ghandi or SG for short) and he went to investigate the issue. He shorty returned with a re-assuring wink. Approx. 15 mins later - she returned to the bistro area and approached the bar to order anther drink - once again she was refused service. SG jumped back in and very politely informed her that she is now cut off and was warned. She un-triumphantly turned towards the door and started walking out. Her walk soon turned into a sprint and while running past one of my regular teams she grabbed one of the bottles of NZ Sauvignon Blanc they recently won for becoming first in one of the rounds! She ran towards the glass door - however in her poste-haste she miscalculated the actual opening and hit the glass and frame on the folding doors. By this time - SG caught on and he moved his bulky frame faster than Ethiopians getting rice from the Red Cross!! SG approached the now slightly confused and rather red faced wine thief and went to remove the illegally gained beverage. She struggled and held onto that wine bottle harder than bull rider lasting 7 seconds. The struggle continued for what seemed to be a lifetime, with the whole venue now watching and cheering on SG finally wins the battle and the lady is now gently escorted out of the venue. My team gets their $8 bottle of wine back and the night finished on a rather high and funny feeling! Well done to the security and staff of Ashmore Tavern - professional all the way! Dan - TTG
