A Long Overdue Thank You! Several months ago I got a message on my Facebook account from an old friend who I had not heard from in quite a while. As I read the message I was astonished by the reality of it. I was astounded by what was being offered to me, but even more astonished was the fact it was being offered to me period. As I read, I asked myself what I had done to merit such favor. Have you ever been in that situation, someone giving you something for what seems to be no logical reason for deserving it? My old friend from High School had contacted me and expressed a desire to help me with my desire to share the Word of God by giving me a gift to be used at fundraisers. I had no idea of my friend’s means, since I had not had contact with him since high school. He told me about his company, a very successful jewelry company that had garnered a reputation for catering to some pretty famous clients. His products were used in events such as the Academy Awards and other prestigious venues. After my initial shock of what had transpired, the two of us made arrangements to meet at his production facility in Southern Indiana. I was so excited to meet with my friend and seal the deal that he had so generously offered to me. The morning arrived and my excitement was palpable. As I crossed the bridge to Indiana, the thought came over me; this is what God did for us. He sent His greatest treasure down to earth do die for us. Not because of our merit, but because of Gods grace. He alone took on the burdens of this world for you and me, if only we would accept His offer. I arrived at my friend’s facility wiping the tears from my face from the realization of how undeserving I was that someone who had been blessed was willing to pass the riches that God had blessed them with along to me. Before I left the facility my friend had given me a large number of bracelets to use at fundraisers of my choice to help the cause of Christ. Ronnie Needham, you have more than impressed me with your generosity. You have humbled me. Thank you my friend and benefactor. I found the following from a devotional from Billy Graham. He can describe this unmerited favor much better than I; “Grace,” according to the dictionary, is the unmerited favor of God toward mankind. The word “grace” is used over 170 times in the New Testament alone. Grace is not bought. It is a free gift of almighty God to needy mankind. When I picture Jesus Christ dying on the cross, I see the free gift of God’s grace in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. I sing with the songwriter, “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see.” Your human mind, with its philosophy of an equal return for favors done, can hardly comprehend the full meaning of this grace of God. But when you catch, by the inspiration of God, its full meaning, you will leave the limits of human reasoning and revel in the spiritual riches of divine truth and privilege. Yes, the grace of God is a reality. Thousands have tried, tested, and proved that it is more than a cold creed, a docile doctrine, or a tedious theory. The grace of God has been tested in the crucible of human experience, and has been found to be more than an equal for the problems and sins of humanity. Prayer for the day Lord, this day help me to come to a more full and abundant awareness of Your bountiful grace. Stimulate me to serve You. I asked you, have you ever had anyone do this for you? I pray that you will allow the greatest gift ever given to mankind to come into your possession. Just like I had to meet my friend, you need to arrange a time to meet God before it is too late. Ephesians 2: 8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. I am a flower gently fading, here today and gone tomorrow. https://youtube/watch?v=mBcqria2wmg
