A.M.U. must engage with Modi - TopicsExpress

A.M.U. must engage with Modi govt. ***************************************** I fully support the observations of A.M.U. Vice-Chancellor, and request him to directly engage with Modi government to talk about the proposed Common University Bill and Common Entrance Test, and the issue of the minority character which is pending before the Honorable Supreme Court. We all must recognize the realities of the time, and move ahead with the same prescient vision which guided Sir Syed Ahmed Khan after the horrors of the first war of Indian Independence. Besides the Vice-Chancellor, it is now the obligation of the new A.M.U. Students’ Union Office bearers to seek an appointment with the Honorable Prime Minister of India and H.R.D. Minister, and convince them about the genuineness of their demands. Sometime back, I saw a ridiculous suggestion by an alumnus at an A.M.U. related network, suggesting a convention wherein all the opposition leaders must be invited , and their views elicited on the Minority Character. What a ludicrous proposal to seek the help of those who did nothing during their governments, but now they will certainly concede your demand as they are out of power. Let there be a section in the community who always believe in adopting the ostrich policy, and ‘ rant and rave’ ( every time ronaa, peetnaa, cheekhnaa, chillanaa’). “ Addressing the students, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah said that a new government was in place and the university would have to initiate a dialogue with the new dispensation so that its genuine interests are preserved and protected. He said that having a good relationship with the new government to create a positive atmosphere was necessary.” *********************************************************** Dr. Mustafa Kamal Sherwani LL.M.(Alig.)
