A MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTIST (MLS) is a MEDICAL PRACTIONER trained by a university in Medical Laboratory Science & a tertiary hospital during Internship & to the lay man, The MLS carries out laboratory investigations on blood, urine, stool, sputum, biopsie(excise tissues), etc, with aim of diagnosing diseases/ailments or confirming the presence or absence of a diseases. Detailed Description of The MLS is in the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, Act 11 of 2003, passed by National Assembly. When you visit a hospital to see a Physician or Medical Doctor, he ask how you feel, what you say, forms the clinical summary or diagnosis that carries a question mark. He sends you to the Clinical Laboratory, where youll meet The MLS, who collects your sample & carry out investigative tests to rule out or confirm what the Physician querried & also reveal more details before the Physician can effectively treat the Patient. The MLS is therefore the PILLAR or PIVOT of modern medicine.
