A MESSAGE TO DAVE, FROM HIS CAMPAIGN STAFF: Thanks, Dave, for standing up for change in Washington, just like you promised! As most of you know, if youve been following Daves posts here on Facebook, Dave was one of the few members leading the movement to change Republican leadership and push the Republican Party in a new direction. With his initiative, Dave once again reaffirmed that he did not come to Washington to be a career politician, but a citizen-legislator. Yesterdays vote for speaker was a nail-biter as we watched it on C-SPAN. We were all in the dark about how it was going to play out, just like everyone else. On the first ballot, the key was to get to at least 29 votes for anyone other than Speaker Boehner and to expand the number of potential conservative candidates who could replace him. That would have allowed the House to go to a second ballot, where Republicans could have chosen from the pool of candidates and worked to build a majority around a new speaker. On the first ballot, Dave voted for Jeff Duncan from South Carolina, and many people have asked us who Jeff is. He is a strong conservative (he has 95+ ratings with groups like Heritage Action) and has been a proven leader in both opposing amnesty and encouraging members to bring about a change in the direction of the House Republicans. He holds the same values and has the same vision for America that Dave does. While the vote was closer than anyone thought, ultimately, there were not enough votes to go to a second ballot. Although obviously disappointed, we are proud of the stance Dave took. He voted just as he said that he would. The next fight coming in the House is the one to defund Obama’s executive amnesty. We look forward to watching Dave, Jeff, and other constitutional conservatives work to achieve that! -- The Brat Pack
