A MESSAGE TO THE NSPCA this is what I have just posted on the page of TSHWANE SPCA regarding a CHIPPED kitten that was brought in earlier this week and put down the SAME DAY!!! This really is a most shocking situation that requires very clear explanation for all of us members of the public who a) chip our animals and b) support the SPCA. Thank you. REQUEST MADE TO TSHWANE SPCA: Please can you clarify with regard to the kitten, firstly the disciplinary action that has been taken against the staff member, and secondly what exactly is the protocol for euthanasia?? Surely it is not a decision taken by one person? Surely it is not a decision taken by a technical assistant who has had three months of training? Surely there is a higher up person in management who should actually be taking responsibility for this really unacceptable situation?? Can I also clarify something? Are your kennels full to overflowing right now? In other words are you SO FULL that you could not have accommodated a kitten for even one night so that it could calm down, people could have time to find it, etc. What exactly was the desperate urgency at your kennels that a stray animal had to be put down within hours of arrival?? These are all very direct questions that require direct answers. Thank you
