A MONTH TO RECONNECT TO ALLAH THE heart is the most significant - TopicsExpress

A MONTH TO RECONNECT TO ALLAH THE heart is the most significant part of the body and any external change in conduct has to be rooted in the recesses of the heart. The medicine prescribed for the spiritual cleansing of the heart from the worldly pursuit of hedonistic materialism is none other than listening to the recitation of the words of the Noble Quraan. And who would disagree that Ramadaan is the best possible time to bring about this radical internal change. Like the experienced gardener who understands the importance of the right climate and conditions to plant the seeds which by the will of Allah Ta’ala will yield a healthy and bountiful harvest, so too is the Divine gift of Ramadaan to help us ascend a spiritual pinnacle. During this time, Muslims find it easy to compete with one another in virtu¬ous and righteous deeds due to the prevailing and favourable spiritual atmosphere. Of this month Allah Ta’ala has stated, “Ramadaan is the month in which was sent down the Qur’an as a guide to mankind, also clear (signs) for guidance and judgment (between right and wrong). So every one of you who witnesses the month should spend it in fasting…..” Al Baqarah, Verse 185. As Ramadaan is the month of the Qur’an, every Muslim should strengthen his relationship with the Qur’an. A Muslim is encouraged to complete a full reading of the Holy Quraan during Ramadaan and listen earnestly to its recitation in the evening prayer, when one is most receptive after the daylong fast of abstaining from any food, drink or indulging in conjugal relations from dawn to sunset. Fasting is more than just abstaining from food though. It is also means to abstain from any falsehood in speech and action, from any ignorant and indecent speech and from arguments and quarrel. It helps to develop good behaviour and inculcates a sense of global brotherhood and solidarity, as the Muslim simultaneously experiences what the needy and hungry feel. This gives a new sense of togetherness, association and intense introspection. It is our prayer that this higher purpose is kept uppermost in our minds as a moral guidance compass and with determined effort to spiritually lift ourselves in this blessed month, so that we will be able to shape our conduct for the year ahead. On behalf of all our certified plants, member organisations, subscribers, officials, staff and friends, we wish you a fulfilling Ramadaan of peace, prayer, good health, spiritual transformation and reconnecting to our Creator, Insha Allah (God willing).
