A MUST READ!!! THE PUBLIC LIBRARY........ WHAT IGBOTAKO PUBLIC LIBRARY SHOULD BE,!!! It is a thing of joy for people in this our present age to reason together and come up with a good plan of setting up a library. It shows there is a great development in the community and we have people who are concious of the academic situation of the community. Kudos ro FISU who has deem it fit ro errect a modern PULIC LIBRARY. REASON FOR A LIBRARY IN ANY COMMUNITY.........A library is a complex where information materials are well organised and kept for users who need information. A library is a store house of knowledge and also a library is a recourse to getting any latest and current information needed. Both retrospective and current informarion are well conserved in the library for the users to consult in order to meet there informarional needs. We have various types of library but in the case of our community it is PUBLIC LIBRARY. A PUBLIC LIBRARY-is a kind of library set up by the people of an enviroment or by the local goverment. It is different from other types of library because it is meant to be use by everybody in the community irrespective of there age, gender, religion, educational attainment and social status. It is the peoples university.it is set up to meet the meet the informational and educarional need of the people in the society farmers, students, civil servants and ailen are meant to patronise it when they needed an information. Public libraries are meant to sensitize everybody in the community even the farmers on their farming products , improve seedlings etc...educate the students on how to be succesful in there exams etc. MATERIALS IN A PUBLIC LIBRARY- The materials of any library of any library arw divided into 2. Printed and non-printed. Printed comes in forms of book and non -printed are the information that can be accessed through the use of computers. Both the printed and non-print are needed in the library. The type of materials in any public library depends on the set of people living in the society where the library is situated. How to acquire a public library material.......the major way of acquiring a public library material is through gift and donation. In due of this all authors in the society are enjoined to donate at least 5 of each of there publication s to the library. Also through purchase and inter-library loan are also means of getting information matrials into the public library. ROLES OF PUBLIC LIBRARY....a public library performs many roles but yhere are two major roles they perform: 1- provision of information 2- preservation of culture. Our culture, history, gods of the land, ancient things used in the land etc are preserved in the archival part of the public library for posterity to see and people who need to carry out research on the land history. Also a part that is mostly in the public library is the E-LIBRARY SECTION. It is the library without wall.......only computers are needed here to facilitate quick access to information. I enjoin all sons and daughters of IGBOTAKO COMMUNITY to donate immensely towards the development of this library. Also all aurhors should donate there books to the library .,......
