A Magnificent Summation of the Nigerian Situation via Ajisafe Michael Oluwafemi Onanuga Olusegun Onanuga Olusegun Nigerians are the most oppressed people on earth... I heard someone say in the video below. Nigerians are oppressed and will remain oppressed in as much as we remain Nigerians. St. Steve Biko (pbuh) {Steve Biko was martyred for his positive teachings to emancipate and liberate, he is greater than many prophets and he should be accorded such a respect as is given to many people who became founders of religions and e.t.c, religions that keeps bringing tears, sorrow and blood among us till today} of South Africa once told us that The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Nigerians remain oppressed because we have refused to see outside the Nigerian charade. We continue to see a nation where there is none, expecting miracle of subsistence out of a phantom, the delusional, miracle seeking smokes and mirrors believing us. We should start to endeavor the attempt of stretching our minds outside the box, some people call it thinking outside the box. We should commence the tedious attempt of seeing outside the box called Nigeria, we should stretch out the necks of our imaginations outside the box called Nigeria and begin to see it from outside, to see it as what it really is, a box, a cage, a virtual cage that has been placed over our minds by those who enslaved our fathers, those some people called them colonialists. The reality of it is that the cage is virtual, it is not real, it only exists in our communal imaginations, the mirage continuously reinforced by a mixture of, fear, force and foolishness. The fear of separation, the force of the terror of another civil war, and the foolishness of having faith in our pastors/imams and politicians. Like blindfolded fools we run from one corner of the box to the next, hoping and seeking believing and trusting that at the next corner the awaits our miracle, our messiah, we run from one OBJ to the next, GEJ, from one BAT to the next OGD. We run from Lagos to Abuja, from Abuja to Warri from Warri to Port Harcourt, we run from Ibadan to Kaduna, Kaduna to Osogbo believing and hoping. Foe example, I believe we all know people who ran from Lagos to Ibadan to sit for SSCE/GCE/WASSCE/JAMB exams, and we all know those who moved in the opposite direction, both traded places for the same purpose of getting the better of the exams, unfortunately neither got the expected outcome, its all just too random. For example, out of the hundreds of thousands that went to various examination centers on the Immigration scam, there were those who moved from Lagos to Abuja (believing Abuja is where the connection is) and there are those who moved from Abuja to Lagos (believing the same as the former!). Like confused people we run around in the box, in our box, in our cage/mass camp of generational disenfranchisement called Nigeria. Our oppressors, the police/priestly/political class among us, who being totally degenerate and morally bankrupt have made us their victims and like vultures they are feeding fat, living large and thriving on our foolishness and fear. Fear of another civil war? Why must we resort to war? Why cant we treat ourselves to the same standard as other humans are treated? Or are we as a people lower than humans? Why where normal humans hold election with minimal crises, why is our replete with bloodshed and fraud? Are we the people called Nigerians are a species lower in quality, worth, intellect, culture or virtue than people in countries like Switzerland and Sweden, Australia and Austria, Japan and Jamaica, New Zealand and Norway. Crimea yesterday just concluded a referendum, Canada till date is yet to break the cycle of referendum to determine the state of the union of their but WE NIGERIANS, as the GIANT OF AFRICA that we see ourselves (through our customised glasses of self deception) are not capable of successfully conducting any civil exercise, from census to elections, such are beyond our mettle, but we have the largest religious congregations and our politicians are wealthier than the President of the USA.Why? Why do they tell us and make us hope and believe in a UNITY IN DIVERSITY, when the reality in our families, homes and pockets is POVERTY IN DIVERSITY? Why cant we as a people accept that the box is a trick by colonialists to keep us down? Why cant we as a people develop some spirit of enterprise and dignity and choose to start off on adventures of self-determination? Why is it that some of us are too lazy mentally to figure out that it is possible we survive without the resources, mineral and mental from some other parts of Nigeria? Why cant we remember that prior to the oil boom that became our doom each region in Nigeria was self-sustaining, actively into commerce and export? The Igbos known to be impulsive, industrious and self-respecting chose to take the plunge, but then the timing and logistics just were not right, but that was over a generation ago, we in our generation have the accumulated intellect and experience, and a more expanded world view than the actors of 1967-70, we are better equipped mentally and more enlightened per capita, the malignant cancer called Nigeria has festered to the point of being mortal wound, we as a generation have had the the acquired knowledge to surgically carefully excise ourselves by nationalities out of an imploding cage, otherwise if too late we all perish under the dead weight of the cancer called Nigeria, it is already suffocating the lives out of our youth, the future, if you doubt me please ask those who died during the just concluded recruitment scam by the Federal Immigration Service. All Im asking and praying of you is to join in and not stand against the slow moving but sure moving tide of excision. Be smart, find a new flag and follow. Continue Reading
