A Maine man recorded a giant fireball in the sky. While hes not - TopicsExpress

A Maine man recorded a giant fireball in the sky. While hes not sure what it was, plenty of other people are willing to take a guess. I just happened to catch something out of the corner of my eye, said Bruce York. He says he was just driving along Route 26 in South Paris on Saturday afternoon about 5 p.m. when he noticed what looked like a fireball in the sky. He grabbed his phone and started recording. It didnt look like anything what Ive ever seen before, he said. It didnt look like any footage Ive ever seen of a meteorite or a comet. It just struck me as odd. He captured video of the strange happening for a little more than 2 1/2 minutes. He posted it on Facebook and YouTube, and so many people are interested. In two just days, 16,000 people have viewed it from as far away as Slovakia, California, and Canada. Opinions as to what it is are all over the place. An answer came late Wednesday afternoon from Edward Gleason, staff astronomer at the Southworth Planetarium at the University of Southern Maine. Gleason saw the video and said he couldnt rule out a meteor but said if he had to guess, it looks like space junk pieces of a satellite breaking up and falling to earth. hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/site/index.php?pageid=event_desc&edis_id=CO-20140214-42683-USA
