A Malaysian Airlines jet carrying 295 people has apparently been shot down in eastern Ukraine. People are pointing fingers, but the circumstantial evidence so far points to the Russian separatists. A very bad situation is about to get much worse. More broadly, the world hasnt been this turbulent and unstable since the Carter years -- the predictable result of a world without real U.S. leadership and declining U.S. influence.
