A Meditation on I Corinthians 2: 6, We speak wisdom.....but it is not a wisdom of this age. Paul spoke unpopular sermons. It was about Christ crucified, the teachings of Jesus, the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus. He did not preach what people wanted to hear, he preached what he wanted people to hear. Preachers today like to preach what people want to hear, popular sermons. They preach their words instead of Gods word. Independent businessmen preachers are worse. They stage shows. They like to get the glory themselves. Their framework is the wisdom of this world which brings money to them and shame to God. They use tactics, skills and charisma, power points, not truthfulness. No depth in sermons. We dont teach anymore, we entertain. We supply what people demand, prosperity gospel, instant gratification, feel good sermons. This supply and demand theology has been around for decades now. We lack bible study. Let us, all of us, listen to God through the scripture and speak truthfully Gods word without any self interest. Let that day hasten for our own good and for Gods glory.
