A Message from Director, IMI To all IMI Alumni, Kolkata- It was heartening to see an overwhelming response and enthusiasm among all the participants in the meeting convened at ICCR on 26th Oct.14 to institute the Kolkata Chapter of IMI FILM CLUB- an association of trained filmmakers. Since the legal formalities to file an application to form the IMI FILM CLUB with the Charity Commission & Income Tax Dept or opening of Bank Accounts etc. will take some time, it was unanimously decided in the meeting to kick start the activity of the Club with immediate effect. Therefore, a Core Committee and various other Sub- Committees for the first year beginning from Nov.14 to Oct.15, have been constituted by Director, IMI who is the Chairman of all the Chapters of IMI FILM CLUB along with the Convener, Ms. Gargi Nandi, who is from the IMI Governing Council. The IMI Film Make Club will be under the overall guidance and support of Institute of Moving Images- The Film School. The post of Chairman & Convener are of permanent members in all the Chapters of IMI FILM CLUB in Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi & Bangalore. Each Chapter of the IMI Filmmakers Club will be managed & financially supported by its own members. The Chairman & Convener of the IMI FILM CLUB will have a irrevocable Veto Power to overrule any decision of the Managing Committee and its various Sub-Committees in all the Policy related issues, however, the decision of the Managing Committee under the leadership of its President will be final for all day to day activities of IMI Film Club. Till an elected body for the Kolkata chapter of IMI FILM CLUB is formed by the end of next year, the members for the Managing Committee & Sub- Committees are nominated by the Chairman & the Convener after scrutinizing all the Application Forms collected during the meeting. After analyzing the interest, skills & talent of each member, the following recommendations are hereby made for unanimous approval by all members. Managing Committee: This core committee will be responsible for over all management of establishing the club, establishing the vision, monitoring the progress, monitoring the revenue earnings, communicating and providing solution to the other committee members and overall monitoring the content and events. 1. Ashok Dutta- President 2. Amitabh Sengupta- Secretary 3. Hemant Chabria- Treasurer 4. Abhishek Dey- Jt. Secretary 5. Moumita Pal- Jt. Secretary 6. Arunavo Pal Choudhury- Executive Member 7. Prof. Tapabrata Bhaduri- Executive Member 8 Sub- Committees-- Administration: This is the main support function for any Committee hence I really do not think we need to elaborate much on this point, the main job is to support the functions smoothly to run the club, constant follow ups, attendance maintenance, formats and manuals to be made and printed and overall communication flow to be maintained. 1. Joy Mukherjee- Member Legal & Finance: This Committee is the back bone to establish any infrastructure, we need to have a cash flow for first couple of years to keep the vision of the management rolling with the necessary compliance elements in place to build a club in which we also need to clearly mention the objective of the club, methods of management, conditions on which a club runs and operates, regulating the relationship between the members and outsiders with proper rights and responsibilities, the another main and key responsibility of this committee is budgeting and accounting. 1. Hemant Chabria- Coordinator 2 Jai Narain Shaw- Member 3. Mihir Deb Mukherjee- Member Programming & Content Creation: This is the cream committee to decide and make the every bi monthly meeting enriched and exciting with lucrative program content with celebrity talk shows, film appreciation sessions, unseen movie showcasing and screening the members movies. 1. Arpita Das- Coordinator 2. Supriyo Sengupta- Member 3. Shantanu Sinha- Member 4. Prof. Tapabrata Bhaduri- Member 5. Piyali Mukherjee- Member Celebrity Liaison: The members of this committee will be the key people to be in touch with the celebrities and their job will be also to find the experts from the industry and catch up with all requirements of their and passing it to the respective responsible committee members to take care. 1. Supriya Sengupta- Member Audio/Video Production: This Committee will take care of all audio and video productions of all the events in the club and for the operational of the same. 1. Sayan Mullick- Coordinator 2. Tushar Pandey- Member 3. Dipankar Banerjee- Member 4. Shinjan Mukherjee- Member 5. Sabyasachi Shome- Member 6. Subrato Paul- Member 7. Abhishek Dey- Member 8. Arpita Das- Member Technical Supports: This committee is the back bone to keep the meetings and shows rolling on uninterrupted with all their skilled efforts. 1. Nikhil Keshri- Coordinator 2. Tushar Pandey- Member 3. Rohit Saha- Member 4. Subrata Kumar Acharya- Member 5. Arunavo Middya- Member 6. Md. Izhar Ahmed- Member 7. Raju Das- Member PR & Communications: The members of this committee will maintain the public relation among the internal as well as with the Press, maintaining the professional website of IMI -FC, taking care of promotional materials, merchandising and marketing in main. 1. The total Membership Fees of Rs 3000/- ( Membership Fees of Rs 1000/- + Annual Fees of Rs 2000/- ) may kindly be paid to Ms Moumita Pal by cheque in favour of Moving Images Educational Trust, till a separate bank account of IMI Film Club is opened after getting the legal sanction from the Charity Commissioners Office.
