A Message from Pastor Dan “If we say we have no sin, we - TopicsExpress

A Message from Pastor Dan “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” John 1:8, 9 You might disagree, but I am not sure there are any professional sports fans more loyal than those of the Green Bay Packers – and I am not a Packer fan. So loyal are they that they’re running out of streets in Green Bay to name after their former players and coaches. They would like to name a street after their current coach, Mike McCarthy, but they can’t find one near enough to Lambeau Field that is not already named Holmgren Way, Brett Favre Pass, Tony Canadeo Run, Bart Starr Road, or Reggie White Way. Sheesh, enough already. But loyal they are, indeed. So is our God. Loyalty or faithfulness is one of the many attributes of God according to the Bible, along with eternal, unchangeable, almighty, just, good, merciful, loving, to name a few. The faithfulness of God means he can’t lie and always keeps his promises, like this one, “But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins…” He promises to do that every time. Why? Because he kept his promise by sending his Son into the world as our Savior. And Jesus in turn faithfully went to the cross to pay for our forgiveness. Yes, our God is faithful and loyal. Maybe we should name a few streets after him. Loyalty or faithfulness is also so very important in our marriages, which is why we are going to talk about it this Sunday. It’s the second of The Seven Conflicts of Marriage. We covered Security last Sunday. This Sunday we will tackle Loyalty. Is loyalty or lack of loyalty a recurring issue in your marriage or in your other relationships in life? It’s at the heart of our Christian faith. It should be at the heart of our marriages, as well. Hope to see you. I have my road, Pastor Dan
