A Message from The Adjutant General of South Carolina, MG Robert - TopicsExpress

A Message from The Adjutant General of South Carolina, MG Robert E. Livingston, Jr. Since the first militias took up arms to defend our nation, more than a million service members have paid the ultimate price protecting the freedoms we cherish today. Memorial Day is about reflecting on these brave men and women who died and honoring their memory. For every precious life lost, there are loved ones and communities who are touched by their sacrifice forever. Since 9-11, our South Carolina National Guard family has lost 16 heroes who paid the ultimate price deployed far from home, whose families still miss their presence. Please take time to reconnect our young generations with the meaning of this weekend, so they may understand freedom is at a high cost. Our thoughts and prayers are with all who are grieving. We hope people around our nation will take time to attend a ceremony, pause for a period of silent reflection or lay flowers on the graves of the fallen. As a country with service members still in harms way, we must never forget.- MG Robert E. Livingston, Jr. The Adjutant General for S.C.
