A Muslim man can only marry up to 4 wives at the a same time. This can be found in the Quran, a chapter named an - Nissak which means women. #O mankind! Be careful of your duty to your Lord Who created you from a single being and from it created its mate and from them twain hath spread abroad a multitude of men and women. Be careful of your duty toward Allah in Whom ye claim (your rights) of one another, and toward the wombs (that bare you). Lo! surely Allah ever watches over you.# (The Quran, Chp 4, Verse 1) #Give unto orphans their wealth. Exchange not the good for the bad (in your management thereof) nor absorb their wealth into your own wealth. Lo! that would be a great sin.# (The Quran, Chp 4, Verse 2) #And if ye fear that ye will not deal fairly by the orphans, marry of the women, who seem good to you, two or three or four; and if ye fear that ye cannot do justice (to so many) then one (only) or (the captives) that your right hands possess. Thus it is more likely that ye will not do injustice. # (The Quran, Chp 4, Verse 3) So from these verses, we know that a Muslim man can only marry 1,2,3 or 4. But with one condition, he must be fair and just to all his wives, without any discriminacy. If he think that he will not be able to treat them equally, then marry just one, so that he may not do injustice.
