A NEW CHAMPION? A change in WWE champion this close to the Elimination Chamber, not to mention Wrestlemania? Its not as crazy as it might seem. I think WWE has to do something to take attention away from the departure of CM Punk, and for the first time since I can remember, WWE seems to be teetering on the brink of losing the goodwill of its fans. Im not just talking about the hard-core fans, or the Internet fans here either – I am talking about a significant portion of their fan base. A title victory by Daniel Bryan tonight might go a long way toward winning back some of that goodwill. Besides, although conventional wisdom would have the big money in the underdog chasing the title, that opportunity has already been lost by not having Bryan win the Royal Rumble. Looking back to late 1998 – early 1999, my feud with the Rock actually heated up after I won the WWE title. So while the chase might be the traditional and best way to build interest for a title change, if done the right way, and with some creative thinking moving foreword to Mania, a Daniel Bryan victory tonight really would be best for business.
