A NEW CREATION Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5: 17) The above verse lets us know that there is a creation that takes place when you come into Christ: you’re not the same you that you used to be, you’re now a new creature. This doesn’t imply that you have changed or been reformed, improved or rehabilitated, but that you have been created anew. “For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew]…” (Ephesians 2:10, AMP). There is the first creation of man which has its lineage from Adam, and there is the second creation which has its lineage from the second Adam, Christ. When you were you were born into this world, you were born from the first Adam, but when you accepted Christ you were born again this time not from or after Adam but from Christ. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15: 47—49 that “The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are those that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.” You are now like Christ. You now have the life and nature that Christ has, that life and nature (with all its limitations and shortcomings) which you were born with at the first birth has passed away. You have now been made a partaker of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4), and the life of Christ, eternal life (Zoe, which is, the God-kind of life) has supplanted your human life. You’re now invincible, indefatigable, impregnable, and indestructible, for you were “…regenerated – born again – not from a mortal origin (seed, sperm) but from one that is immortal by the ever living and lasting word of God.”(1 Peter 1:23, AMP). John the Apostle in his gospel has this to say about these new super-beings that have come on the scene, he says they“…owe their birth neither to bloods, nor to the will of the flesh [that of physical impulse], nor to the will of man [that of a natural father], but to God. – They are born of God!” (John 1:13). This new creation is superior to sickness, disease, failure, sin, poverty, circumstances, death and the devil. If you are born again you are a new creature, that is, a new species of being, a chosen breed, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, God’s own purchased, peculiar person. You are not an ordinary! Acknowledge who you are in Christ and live the higher life of glory, power and victory every day!
