A NEW DAWN AT ANFIELD For five years Liverpool football club and her fans were living in the dark. It was called the dark ages. We were over shadowed in english football. Some even predicted us going to relegation. We were Looked down upon, ostracizes, abused, laughed at. Football centres refused to show our matches. They said we are a mid-table club. For good five years the once best club in europe was out of sort. Players leaving, frequent changing of managers, Fans leaving. Only a few loyal fans remain. We stomached all the humiliation and condemnation we recieved from our rival fans, players and coaches. There was a bond between us and the club. We just couldnt leave. We walked alone for five years with hope in our heart. And last season, a new manager came. With new philosophies. A mid-table, and inexperience manager. He had never managed a top team. No one believed in him. Even I was skeptical. He led us to our worst premier league start in over a century. Everybody were calling for his head. We thought he was the one to take us to the promise land. By december 2013, every liverpool fans hope of finishing top four was dashed. And then came two players (Sturridge and Coutinho), the later was dubbed a gamble by the greatest manager of all time (Sir Alex Ferguson). No one believed that he is gonna be a great player. The fans of the club that sold him were happy that he was not sold, but OFF-LOADED! Ask chelsea fans not me! The latter was a 20 year old bench warmer from intermilan. Just like the former, no one believed in him. In fact I had never heard of him until we signed him. Those two signing changed the story. That was january 2013. That season we finished 7th in the league. Just one place ahead of the previous season. But, the manner in which we finished the campaingn was what blew up our hairs. We were scoring goals. Loads of goals. Yet, the rivals didnt see us as a threat. We didnt even see ourselves as a threat. Something remarkable happened at the begginning of this season. First the greatest manager (Sir Alex Ferguson) of the game retired. Second he took a dig at us. Nobody knows why he did. We just believed his hatred for the club still runs deep in his viens. He also made a statement which was termed derogatory. He said Liverpool needs 8 more players to win the league. Whenever I remember this statement, I just laugh because its kinda funny. What an old man he is. He believes after spending more than 23 years in the game he knows everything about the game. That was august 2013. Many months later. The club is currently second on the log, four points adrift first. With most goals scored. Meanwhile the club he left behind (Manchester United) are languishing in 7th. Fourteen points adrift 2nd. With a confused bunch of players and a grey haired manager. No hope of finishing in top four not to talk of retaining the trophy they won last season. Their own dark ages has just started. I doubt if they have their merlin. These two teams face next weekend. A match to look out for. A match to show superiority. A new dawn in Anfield the home of liverpool has begun. An era when our pride has being restored. Every liverpool fan on the surface of the earth are proud of supporting the club. A place in the champions league is 250% certain. Winning the league is 90% sure. Gone are the days when football centres refuse to show our matches. In fact they are now making loads of cash from our matches. Now, I speak highly of my team without fear of condemnatiön or intimidation. I brag around about liverpool football club. The liverpool youve been seeing for the past five years is göne. Locked in the bottomless pit. With no hope of returning. A new liverpool is here. Playing the most exciting brand of football in europe. A team full of world class players. Five of them made the starting eleven of the english national team. That shows the huge respect others now have for us. Cheers to all liverpool fans who stood by the club during those trying times!!! You and your family will never walk alone!!!
