A NEW LUPUS STUDY!! Doctors are now conducting a new research study called ADDRESS II that is looking at the safety and effectiveness of an investigational drug, Atacicept, for systemic lupus. Atacicept is a biologic therapy that is given by injection just under the skin (subcutaneously) most commonly in the abdominal or thigh region once a week. Atacicept has previously been evaluated in a systemic lupus study. Not all patients are able to control their disease with current treatments so it is important for an arsenal of therapies to be available. For a medication to be available to the public, medical research studies, such as this one, must be conducted. You may be eligible to take part in the ADDRESS II Study if: • You are 18 years of age or older • It has been 6 months or more since you met the requirements for a lupus diagnosis • You have active lupus at the time you participate in the study At the end of the 24 week dosing period of ADDRESS II, study participants will be given the option to receive Atacicept for up to 2 years. lupusfoundation.org/clinicaltrials/addressii.html?utm_source=Newsletter+11-4-14&utm_campaign=Newsletter&utm_medium=email
