A NEW PERSPECTIVE Montana Democrats have selected Amada Curtis to run for US Senate, and their choice offers a vivid contrast to Republican candidate Steve Daines. Amanda Curtis kicks off her campaign with a focus on every-day Montanans, and she jumps into the now tepid race with energy. Amanda Curtis is a 34 year-old math teacher from Butte who serves in her first term in the state legislature. While Mr Daines is a decent man, his apparent lack of understanding of the issues every-day Montanans face is troubling. Even more troubling is Daines voting pattern during the bare two years he has served. Consistently, he has voted to slash support for basic social programs and cut help for vulnerable individuals and struggling families. Steve Daines votes show a profound mis-understanding of the need in Montana communities. This failure to comprehend places him at a great dis-advantage in his ability to serve in the Senate all the citizens in Montana -- including our most vulnerable ones. Amanda Curtis has to make her case that she is the best candidate to serve Montana, and it looks like she is coming out swinging.
