A NOTE FROM VALERIE DIGGS: I would like to thank the hundreds of supporters who posted to this page as they have recoded hundreds of comments, over 1,150 likes, and over 28,000 views, all within the past few days. I am in awe of and humbled by this outpouring of support. October is Information Literacy Month. In short, being information literate means to have the ability to use information effectively and ethically. I would like to think of the support this page has received as an acknowledgement of what school librarians do to help insure that our students are information literate and how invaluable this is to the success of students as they move through all stages of life. In addition, I want my supporters to know that taking risks, thinking outside of the box, and being creative is what school libraries are all about today. It takes a professional to navigate this course in our schools and for our students. My wish is for administrators and school committees everywhere to believe in the value of having a certified school librarian in every school. Our students need access to professional services and creative thinkers now more than ever. Thank you. Valerie Diggs
