I have been notified by a subcontractor in my community and informed that they have filed a grievance with Facebook, Inc. concerning our Friends of the Retlaw Theater Facebook page. This page. This group. She would not specify. Respectfully, I would love to review, clarify, and defend our groups intentions so there is no misunderstanding. Friends of the Retlaw Theater has no intention of interrupting the demolition of the Retlaw Theater. We do not aim to threaten or bring harm to any individuals connected with the demolition company or Commonwealth Companies, the new owner of the property. Our group was started four months ago in effort to educate our community as to the steps our city government has put in place for any person to work to preserve and protect a National, State, and Locally designated property in Fond du Lac, WI. Together, this group has walked that path, following the specific state statutes and city ordinances that make up this path. Friends of the Retlaw Theaters facebook group prides itself on reporting facts that we can substantiate. We have collected and maintained the paperwork; building quotes, municipal code, and open record requests to support the comments, concerns, and discussions that take place on our facebook site. We would be happy to share any and all of our documents with any person at any time. Please feel free to consult with any members of The Wisconsin State Historical Society in Madison WI to verify and substantiate the actions and intentions of this group over the past 6 months. Their resources and archives were a huge source of support to us during this effort. Above all, please allow Friends of the Retlaw Theaters facebook page to remain up. Please allow us to continue to console and support each other during the demolition of the last half of our theater. Please allow and accept an average display of emotion as we grieve. We feel strongly that our path and our conversations can serve as a guide and an inspiration to many other individuals and cities as others attempt to save their historically significant buildings.
