A NOTE TO FOOD RENEGADE READERS: Today I got an email from a reader complaining that every time I offer a tutorial on how to make something, I include a link from a sponsor for where they can buy the tools or ingredients necessary to make it. My response is two-fold. FIRST: My primary goal here is to empower you with knowledge. That includes knowledge for where to find this stuff. If you have a friend/family member/local supplier thats better/faster/cheaper, YAY. My message has always been (and will always be) that we need to support local farmers & suppliers FIRST. That said, not everyone has that luxury. For the rest of us, knowing reputable internet suppliers is a LIFESAVER. SECOND: Do you work for free? Maintaining Food Renegades website, researching and writing quality articles & recipes, handling customer service for my own books & classes, answering student questions, and keeping a social media presence on places like FB and Pinterest takes a lot of work. In fact, I employ (myself included) 4 people in this venture. It is not cheap, and it is time consuming. If I were a freelance journalist instead of a blogger, would you call me a sell out for selling my writing to magazine or newspaper or journal? Why call me a sell out for figuring out a way to make money doing what I love AND helping people at the same time? CONSIDER THIS A FRIENDLY REMINDER. If you appreciate what Im doing, will you consider using my affiliate links when you buy? Affiliate links are nifty things... They enable you to spend the same amount of money that you would have spent anyway, but a percentage of the sale comes back to me as a sort of commission. In the case of Amazon, its about 4-8% of your purchase. This goes for everything you add to your shopping cart after clicking on my link -- from Prime Instant Video to Earthing Shoes, E-books to Almond Butter. Heres my link to Amazon. You can even save it as a bookmark! (affiliate link) --> bit.ly/foodrenegade
