A Nostalgic Journey! It was in December 1971 that I had made my first blood donation, motivated by Mrs Kanta Saroop Krishen, and Dr JG Jolly, in the wake of the 71 war. From that day to date ( 43 years and 95 donations), it has been a very satisfying team work with the Blood Bank Society, Chandigarh, which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. Be it organising blood donation camps or spreading the cause of voluntary blood donation, I have enjoyed the journey, taking my family, and friends along. To mark the occasion, HE Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor Haryana, honoured the Star Blood donors ( more than 50 donations) in the Raj Bhawan, at Chandigarh, on 18 Dec 14. It was a very well organised function held under the aegis of Mrs Niti Sarin, General Secretary, and her dedicated team of the Blood Bank Society. Mrs Neelam Kasni, Secretary to the Governor, and Commissioner Ambala Div, was also present, and motivated the recipients. HE honoured nearly 200 star blood donors, from Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh. After the function, a tea party was organised, during which the Governor warmly met all the blood donors and complimented them. He even signed their honour certificates. What a befitting tribute to those who give a gift of life! Our journey will continue. Here are some photographs of the occasion.
